If only for a couple of hours, one of these teams will find themselves top of a Champions League group that also contains Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain – and we are backing it to be Club Brugge.

It would be a huge shock if either of the two favourites in Group A failed to make it through to the knockout stage, but the fixture list means the outsiders in the pool have a chance to strike an early blow and boost their confidence for the remainder of the campaign.

Club Brugge have won the Belgian league title in two of the past four seasons but surrendered it last term to Genk, although they are unbeaten so far this time around.

As the domestic runners-up, Philippe Clement’s side had to win two Champions League qualifying ties to reach this stage and in doing so they won both of their home matches narrowly, against Dynamo Kiev and LASK Linz.

Galatasaray, meanwhile, overhauled Istanbul Basaksehir in the final month of last season to retain the Turkish title but they have conceded two goals in each of their opening two away league games this term, losing the first of them and also dropping a couple of points at home.

With a poor record against Belgian clubs (see stats above) Galatasaray look set for a defeat here and a Club Brugge victory would leave them dreaming of an upset at the expense of either of the ‘big two’ over the course of the autumn.
